Las repairs homes affected by TS LauraAfter the damages reported in Las Tunas housing fund due to the passage of Tropical Storm Laura on the night of last August 23, the province is solved for most of the damage, and only five residences remain pending, in which are already working for their enlistment. 

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Héctor Rodríguez Espinosa, director of Housing in the territory, told the Cuban News Agency that today they are working on a house in the municipality of Majibacoa that suffered a total collapse; as well as on two buildings in the southern town of Guayabal, in “Amancio,” with damage to the protective roofing blankets; and two buildings in Jobabo, with partial roof breakdown.

He explained that the infrastructures of the eight municipalities were deteriorated after the passage of the meteorological event, but the entity's response was immediate to detect the damage and provide solutions to the inhabitants.

Rodríguez Espinosa affirmed that the natural phenomenon did not cause serious damage in the province, since in general only 24 homes were damaged, although the Electric Company had greater consequences, especially due to the damage caused in several circuits, but they were restored the day after the passage of " Laura,” which traveled through southern Cuba and left the first impact on the island of the current hurricane season that will end on November 30.

In Las Tunas, the greatest damage to the housing fund was reported in 2008 after the onslaught of Hurricane Ike, which left around 86,000 affected homes, of which more than 10,000 were totally destroyed.
