El Rincón dam, in Las Tunas

Las Tunas reservoirs are at 50 percent of their filling capacity, as it was explained to the Provincial Defense Council by Mirtha García Rojas, delegate of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH) in this territory.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- She stressed that the necessary measures are being fostered to control their situation and, if it is forced due to the rains, to take the necessary decisions in time to reduce the damage to the population and their water supply.

She stressed that the Juan Sáez dam, in the municipality of “Jesús Menéndez,” is below that 50 percent of filling. This reservoir, in constant hydrological surveillance, is the largest in the province and is in the center of everyone's sights in special way.

Likewise, the electrical workers assure that they keep the generators available in the water pumps that define the supply to the population, such as the Piedra Hueca basin and El Rincón dam.

At the meeting, it was revealed that the cleaning of sections of rivers and streams, unblocking of ditches, channels and sewers identified in the studies of danger, vulnerability and risk that could cause flooding are accelerated.

The sector managers call for the cleaning of gutters, drains and roofs of the houses, and to verify the status of the drainage works and water traps.
