Repairs at the Majibacoa sugar mill

When the preparations for the next harvest have already consumed a month and a half of the scheduled time, Las Tunas exhibits 109 percent compliance with the investment, maintenance and repair plan of its sugar industry to date.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Rafael Pantaleón Quevedo, general director of the Sugar Company in the territory, highlighted the fact that the three mills that will be in operation in the harvest - Antonio Guiteras, Majibacoa and Colombia - maintain positive results just at the time when workers usually enjoy their vacations, after a year of hard work.

"This balance is in correspondence with the commitment that the sugar producers from Las Tunas assume before the highest authorities of the country and the province, not to delay the opening of the milling in any of these factories for reasons attributed to the late termination of their enlistment", the manager specified.

He also highlighted that what these mills have achieved is the effect of good diagnosis and the recovery of critical and basic spare parts, which has allowed them to save significantly on the budget approved for the past stage.

Currently, the greatest efforts are concentrated in the areas of mills and steam generation (Antonio Guiteras); mills, tilters and manufacturing (Majibacoa) and in the tandem, mills and steam generation areas of the “Colombia.”

Las Tunas must begin the next sugar harvest in November and the pre-campaign schedule was drawn up on the basis of having the industry and agricultural machinery ready one month before the start of operations; an intention that if carried out successfully will allow time for carrying out the harvest exercise and the other regulated tests, a requirement that only the Majibacoa plant fulfilled in the last stage.
