There are some new options for the payment of the electricity bill

The Electric Company reported that, as of February, the collection of its services through its workers directly in the clients’ homes will cease, although it clarified that users who until now only depend on that way to pay the monthly electric bill will have options.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- In a press note released this Wednesday, the Company argued that it makes this decision to preserve the physical integrity of its employees. It refers to the fact that the amount of cash that the employees who until now provided that service would have to carry considerably increases after the rise in electricity service rates in the country in January.

Now, the press release explained, the residential customers will have to settle their monthly debts at the Company offices. Also, it stressed, they will be able to continue taking advantage of electronic payment platforms such as Transfermóvil or EnZona; or by going to the banking agencies or post offices of the territory. In these cases, the entity insisted, payment will be made up to three days before the due date of the invoice.

The agency clarified that it will take the necessary steps to guarantee access to bill payment to those who, due to various situations, cannot use some of the remote payment options or go to their dependencies. This is the case of the physically disabled, the elderly, or another person in a vulnerable condition who cannot leave their homes and do not have access to electronic systems either. Similar provisions will be made with the inhabitants of geographically distant areas, especially in rural zones.
