More than 1,300 people have been assisted by the Municipal Directorate of Labor and Social Security in Las Tunas

More than 1,300 people have been assisted by the Municipal Directorate of Labor and Social Security in Las Tunas, based on the Ordering Task, the country's strategy to assess the economic and social needs of the population and to protect those who need it most.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Yanelys Suárez Peña, head of Unit in the organization, informed the Cuban News Agency that as of the implementation of the ordering, in January, service points were enabled in the 19 popular councils of the provincial capital, organized in 152 constituencies.

The process to be followed from the applications for monetary benefits involves a socioeconomic study that determines whether the aid is appropriate or not, which is carried out by social workers, and includes constant training to be able to guide people and inform about the new provisions and the issues legislated in the Constitution of the Republic of Cuba, she specified.

Carmen Ramírez Formigo, the second head of the Municipal Labor Unit, added that the main causes for denying benefits are that people do not have the address declared in their personal documents during the study, or that they are suitable for employment.

To date, 260 people have been approved, while another 140 have accepted the aid temporarily.
Many people who come to the Labor and Social Security offices in search of employment do not have the necessary job qualifications to opt for the positions on offer, she added, and many others are not willing to fill the vacant positions and reject the available options.

Although the generation of employment in Las Tunas has not increased considerably, there is evidence of a notable insertion in the different self-employed activities, and recently created local projects are recognized that open up new job opportunities, she stressed.

The Mercazona application for electronic commerce based on a network of messengers, leased craft shops, the creation of points of sale for agricultural products as part of the revitalization of an abandoned market, and others, are among the new type of job offers in this city.
