Between 1903 and 1905, the first pharmacy in Victoria de las Tunas was installed, on Francisco Vega Street, between Colón and Joaquín Agüero, right in the building that today is occupied by several businesses and the headquarters of the Cuban News Agency. 

Las Tunas, Cuba.- "La Consuelo" took shape on the premises owned by Dr. Suárez and Don Sacramento Bello, who sold it to Dr. Natalio González in 1903.

Of course, before, medicines were sold in a more or less formal way in other places. The first records in our town date back to 1837, and according to the statesman Jacobo de la Pezuela, these facilities recorded an annual income of four thousand 250 pesos.

By the end of the 19th century, a field pharmacy created by Mercedes Sirvén, the prominent Mambisa woman who conceived a small field hospital and a pharmacy to fight against the Spanish regime in the war of 1895, is recorded.
