Las Tunas marks the International Women's Day

The heroines grow, multiply. These are turbulent times for tenderness. They do not quit. You see them with glitter in their eyes and little mascara. Elegance now smells of courage and bravery, of sleepy but lively, alert eyes.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- A pandemic called COVID-19 turns everything upside down, it wants to impose itself on kisses and hugs, on joy. But women are more warriors, more alert, more competent, more ladies. March, their month of flowers, smiles at them in victories.

Right now, they are in laboratories, emergency rooms, the so-called red zones of hospitals, isolation centers, doctors' offices, and emergencies. There, in thousands, they defend life and show off faces of all ages and Public Health professions. In schools and kindergartens, passion is no less. Agitated, they walk behind their "children" so that they wear the facemasks correctly, wash their hands, and the collective discipline wins the battle of the day.

Work for the common good, achieve it, no matter where. Factories, grooves, offices, service agencies, warehouses, shopping centers, communications, military units, press media, management positions… everywhere, a woman. That Mariana that this March 8th may not even remember the last time she dyed her hair or debuted a lip crayon; but she does not forget her perennial commitment, she remains attached to double shifts, smiles; reinforces optimism, fills her schedule of tasks, and distributes the beautiful virtue of loving and propping up the family.

Worthy women. They are sovereign in assembling the stone paths and walking them for themselves and the others. Women from Las Tunas fill this geography with their own perfumes that saw them born or brought them for noble purposes. They are friends, sisters, colleagues, mothers, neighbors... heroines.

Women among roses and thorns that fill spring with light again, without looking at the clock, the challenges and the complex coordinates of a convulsive year for tenderness. But they, like an iron Venus, raise their heels and spread their hands ... the givers of love, life; example and constancy do not faint. This March 8, the hugs are double, and HAPPY DAY has a deep, infinite dimension, like the irrevocable decision to capitalize that magic word: WOMAN.
