Las Tunas city after last week rains

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The city of Las Tunas woke up sunny today, while recovery work continues in the municipalities affected in recent days by heavy rains and associated flooding; hydrometeorological surveillance is maintained, as well.

The Provincial Defense Council met to indicate more measures.

From Friday afternoon, June 9, the Provincial and Municipal Defense Councils were activated throughout the Las Tunas territory, due to the large floods caused by the intense rains that occurred until this Saturday morning.

Crop fields received the major impact of the intense rains

The affectation of more than 700 hectares planted with different crops constitutes the greatest impact caused by the constant rainfall recorded in Las Tunas, although work is still underway to quantify the damage in the eight municipalities of the province.

Municipal and provincial authorities assessed damages caused by the rains in Jobabo

The constant rains in the northern region of Jobabo, and neighboring municipalities, caused a considerable increase in the flow of the Jobabo River and left various areas of the town cut off. Manuel René Pérez Gallego, president of the Provincial Defense Council (CDP), and Jaime Chiang Vega, governor of Las Tunas, along with local authorities, toured the affected places.
