Historical-sculptural mural

With the complicity of history, drawn in the most iconic events of the land of Major General Vicente García, a 50-meter-long sculptural mural is inaugurated in the city of Las Tunas, like a watering hole where past and present are mixed, in line with the rebellion that has accompanied the retracement of our best lines.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- This colossal work is located on Francisco Varona Avenue and decorates the facade of the El Mambí agricultural market. Its materialization, after two years of pause and the dressing of scarcity of resources, has come to light thanks to the convocation of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and the Council of Plastic Arts (CPAP) in the province.

Authorities from Las Tunas recognized the artist Nover OlanoNover Olano, an artist that designed the mural, assured 26 that leaving their mark on the city and contributing to the catalog of the Capital of the Cuban Sculpture exacerbate their pride, with the satisfaction of giving the people of Las Tunas a work that he feels they have already done.

The symbolism and courage contained in the main landmarks of local history, from the primitive community to the present, with the city's coat of arms as a witness, are also the product of the talent of the plastic artists Leandro Miguel Olano and Armando Rivero, who dedicated more than a year to modeling the works, in which the technique of sculpting in clay and casting in cement was used.

Precisely, in greeting to this July 26, the National Rebellion Day, 68th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, and an essential appointment with the best national traditions, this sculptural mural finally adorns Las Tunas and robs the time of history to revive in mud and cement, the courage of a city that has marked the price of its freedom with fire.
